If any of these statements are true for you then this course can help your creative journalling journey: Are you looking for a new hobby? Are you looking for a creative outlet? Are you looking to be creative without having to produce something specific like a finished piece of art? Have you got lots of supplies but feeling overwhelmed how to use them? Do you want to create but don’t know what to create? Do you have the fear of a blank page - just not knowing where to start? WHAT IS CREATIVE ART JOURNALLING: Creative Art Journalling, is simply being creative in a journal without the confines of artistic rules. Your journal is a space for experimenting, practicing and exploring all types of techniques and mixed media. Your journal is also a “safe space” for totally free self-expression without fear of the end result. You can focus and channel your creativity whilst allowing your thoughts, feeling and emotions onto the page. Journalling is all about the enjoyment of the journey and not the final product. You will soon see how creating your own journal can positivly impact on your wellbeing. WHAT WILL BE COVERED In this introductory workshop, we will start with the basics! Each week we will focus on different technique, methods or media/materials, to help build your skills and techniques to create pages in your journal. You will be guided step by step through each stage. All materials* will be supplied as well as refreshments. (*EXCEPT JOURNAL - see below) Each week you will need to bring your art journal, yourself and an open mind to being creative. Each week you will be given a suggestion for doing some journalling in between session if you have supplies at home. WHAT’S NEXT: After this course you will be invited to join the follow on course - MORE, Creative Art Journalling. There will also be Masterclass Workshops to indulge & immerse yourself in individual techniques, skills & differnt types of media etc. Or you could join our regular Journalling Play Session. COST: *** There are two prices*** £97 - 4 week Course WITHOUT Journal £119 - 4 week Course INCLUDING Journal If you choose to have a Journal INCLUDED - you will be provided with a Brand New Creative Journal - Approx 8” x 8” (Currently £27 on Amazon) If you choose to buy your own Journal - you will need to provide a quality mixed media journal. Remember that your journal needs to have thick pages as we will be using lots of layers, glue, paint, water and more! Therefore thin or poor quality paper will not work with these techniques. Once your place is booked I will share with you a link of a recommendation. Lets get this journalling journey started! ABOUT YOUR TUTOR KATE: Kate has been teaching for over 16years & still loves it. SATURDAY 20th MAY 10.30am

COURSE INFO: £40 (4 week course) 10.30am - 11.30am Sat 20th May - Sat 10th June During this 4 week course, you will learn to value and enjoy your unique voice as you develop it. It is an incredible tool to bring about connection with yourself and others. Singing is excellent medicine, and the research is clear on its positive impact on health and wellbeing. You'll learn how to use your voice and music as tools for meditation, relaxation and self connection. You'll also learn how to use them to boost energy, joy and positivity. Many people believe incorrectly that they can't sing and many others don't like their voices. This has led to people excluding themselves from the joy of music and singing. However, unless you have a physical impairment, you most definitely can sing and you must sing! These sessions are open to all levels, including those who think they can't sing. They will be very relaxed and supportive and you will be under no pressure to do things you're uncomfortable with. We will as a group: Begin by exploring our voices, tone and range Learn and explore breathing, pitch, dynamics and rhythm Explore and incorporate different emotions when making sound Improve our listening skills to match pitch and harmonise Progress towards incorporating words and melodies with mantra's and gospel songs. As confidence and comfort levels grow, you will sing more freely and confidently and will even improvise! We may also dance as part of our warm-up so wear something comfortable. Again, there is no pressure to participate in all exercises. If you're still unsure or nervous after reading the above and have questions or need some reassurance, please get in touch. Finally, here's a testimonial from someone that might be helpful: “As somebody who does not consider myself a natural born singer, Cindy provides a warm, safe and nurturing space in which to explore my voice and experience singing in communion with others which leads to a really healing and transformative experience. I really appreciate Cindy’s deep wisdom and expertise in her craft. I highlight recommend participating in Cindy’s workshop.” Carole, Aberdeen Cindy Douglas, is a singer/songwriter and vocal coach with a background in HR from an earlier career in the corporate world. WORKSHOP INFO: £35 for the 2hr workshop Everything Inc: materials & tools for use on the day as well as refreshments, firing & glazing. This workshop is perfect for beginners and those wishing to gain more experience with hand building techniques. You will learn to make a handbuilt bowl using the mindful, ancient technique of Puki and hammer stone. Starting with a pinch pot then refining and enlarging it using a hammer stone and a curved base known as a Puki. Once made, you stamp your bowl on the inside with a decorative design of your choice. You will get to test these techniques on a smaller test bowl too. Nicola will then take your bowl to her studio, and glaze and fire it. At the end of the course, your work, a maximum of 2 pieces, each will be fired, glazed and ready for collection within approx. 4-5 weeks. You will be advised when your work is ready and collection will need to be organised from The Space, or for a small additional charge it can be posted out to you. All Material & Equipment supplied for your use on the day. Although you may wish to bring your own apron or an old shirt. ABOUT NICOLA: Is a self taught potter, living and working in Aberdeenshire. Nicola has always had a love of the outdoors. Nicola trained as an entomologist/ecologist. Moving to Scotland she became a freshwater ecologist, spending her days looking down a microscope. A change of career was needed to accommodate the demands of small children and two chronic illnesses. She had long done pottery as a hobby, so decided to turn professional and has never looked back. Now she creates handbuilt pottery from her home studio. Working without the use of a pottery wheel, her pieces reflect the imperfections and asymmetry of nature. No two pieces are alike. The microscopic details of diatoms, algae, and insects are reflected in her work via hand carved textures in the surface. ** Please Note ** We need a minimum of 6 to run the workshop.
